ParticipantSingle Acting means the cylinder is only capable of applying forein one direction. Direct Control could idicate the Diretional Control Valve to operate it is mounted on the cylinder in a configuration some manfactures call an “Air Motor”

ParticipantNo, You are reseller, not a real manufacturer

ParticipantOne way to calculate flow is to use the equation Q=22.48 x Cv x sqrt{(P1-P2)*P2/T/G} where : Q = flow rate @ 1 atm, 68 deg F, & 36% rel humidity, in scfm Cv=dimensionless flow coefficient P1=upstream pressure in psia P2=downstream pressure in psia T=upstream temperature in deg rankine (usually 528) G=specific gravity of air at one atmosphere, 68 deg F, & 36% rel humidity (usually = 1) If I use P1-P2=1 psi, P2=14.7 psi, T=528, I get a flow of 120,182 SCFM. Times this by 0.01% or 0.0001 the leakage rate would be ~ 12 SCFM. I hope this helps.

ParticipantOur little forum on high pressure military suplus compressors has caught on, almost 600 posts. Pay us a visit. Lots of tips on theory, building drives, repair and use, ect. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kidde-compressor-folks/ Dave

ParticipantI used to build diving compressors (in the 60’s and 70’s). I used mostly the 4 cfm surplus kiddie and the 2, 4, and 6 cfm Cornelius units. I still have a beautiful 9 cylinder cornelius radial unit sitting unused I purchased back in the 70″s. I am hoping to find a schematic breakdown of the 4 cylinder Kiddie compressor. I recall that the pistons were not connected via rod to a cam rather than the conventional crankshaft with rods and pistons. I’m doing some design work on a difererent dype of system and would love to be able to obtain a schematic breakdown of a 4 cylinder kiddie – most specifically of the crank to piston parts and configuration. If you might have anything like that or a source of same, I would sur appreciate your asistance. Thank you — Mike C.

ParticipantI HAVE BEEN PUTTING TOGETHER SURPLUS CORNELIUS COMPRESSORS I HAVE TWO ON HAND RIGHT NOW ONE CHANGED TO A AC MOTOR ANOTHER WITH A 27 VOLT DC CONVERTER I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHERE I CAN BUY SOME COMPRESSORS I GUESS THERE ARE SOME OUT THERE IF I COULD FIND THEM REGARDS RALPH

ParticipantYes

ParticipantOn top of Yes; Mounted in series they only have the force of one cylinder. In case of different bores it would be the force of the smaller one. If mounnted as opposing, such as clamping a part from boh sides, they would only exert the force of the smaller one also.

ParticipantCan you post a picture of the Legris part you are looking for?
admin
ParticipantI certainly would, but I am not sure how to post pictures.

ParticipantI can email a photo if you like, what’s your email?

ParticipantI have a few Nycoil fitings, elbows, tees, unions. Different sizes. I have them listed on ebay but drop me an email for more info.

ParticipantThis is not a good idea, running a blast at passers by directly from a compressor, as you cannot direct air pressure directly at a person without regulation to below 2 Bar. But the easiest way for you to accomplish what you are looking for would be to use a proximity sensor, or even better a trip valve under the floor, then releasing a shot of air form a resevoir through a large flow valve and air nozzle.

ParticipantGo to the homepage of this web site and look at the links on the right side. The NFPA training is vey good. Also most pneumatic manufacturers have online training. Try Festo, Norgren, Clippard and others.
